Roulette Betting Systems – The Player’s Fallacy or Money Making
Machine?
Since the invention of the Roulette wheel
back in 18th century in France, many people have been trying to
overcome the house-odds by using certain roulette betting
systems & strategies. Over the years, hundreds of systems
appeared, mostly based on the gamblers well-known Martingale
betting system. Now, let’s get straight to the point. Which one
of them in a long term can overcome the house advantage and
guarantee you profit? Are you ready for the answer?
The answer
is: None-Zip-Nada!
"You cannot
beat a roulette table unless you steal money from it." – Albert
Einstein
Of course this doesn’t mean you can not win at Roulette at all.
In fact, winnings can be staggering, but it is very important to
emphasize that non of the so-called strategies can guarantee you
profit in a long term whether you
play online roulette or you enjoy it in your favorite brick
& mortal casino.
Martingale Betting System
The Martingale system is based on the idea
that doubling your bet after every loss and until your first
win, would recover all your previous losses plus win a profit
equal to the original stake. In other words, if a player bets $1
on red (or black) and loses 5 times in a row and winning on the
6th – the results are:
Bets: $1+$2+$4+$8+$16+$32=$63
Wins: $32*2 = $64
Total Score = Wins – Bets = $1
Great, isn’t it? Well, there are only two problems here.
The first – your budget ; The second – table limits.
In the first scenario, let’s assume that your budget is $500. If
your starting bet is only $1, and you lose 8 times in a row
(which will eventually happen), you will not have enough of
money to even make your 9th bet.
($1 + $2 + $4 +$8 + $16 + $32 + $64 + $128 +
$256 = $511)
And even if your budget is wealthy, in
millions of $$$, every single roulette table has limits. Simple,
you can not bet from $1 doubling it to infinity. Sooner or later
you will hit the table limits. And one more thing. Roulette ball
doesn’t have a “memory”. This simply means that if black color
appears 10 times in a row, the possibility that next color would
be red is exactly the same
as the possibility it would be red. This is one of the biggest
gambler myths: That an event that has
not happened recently becomes overdue and more likely to occur.
Other Roulette Systems
There are hundreds of other Roulette
strategies mostly variations of Martingale. They all have one
thing in common – the expected return in a long term is
negative. I will mention just a two of them: Labouchere Betting
System and D'Alembert Betting System. The first one is very
similar to Martingale but doesn’t require the player to risk his
stake as quickly and dramatic as in Martingale method. The
second one also known as “pyramid system” is very simple and
uses the “small” betting progression. Example: Starting bet is
$10. Loss would result in betting $11 next round, and win would
result in betting $9.
Conclusion
There is no formula on Earth that can
guarantee you 100% win on Roulette. My advice would be: manage
your money, and don’t spend more than you can afford. Have fun
and hopefully lucky lady will visit you. Also, take advantage of
online playing by claiming deposit bonuses as a new player.
