Americana Poker Rules
General Info:
Number of players: From 2 to max 6 players.
Deck: Stripped deck - 32 cards from A to 7. (French deck)
Dealer: Cards are dealt clockwise starting with the first active
player after the dealers button.
Ante: Before the cards are dealt, each player must place the ante
("forced bet").
Game Play
Each player receives two cards – The “hole card” (face-down card which can
not be seen by other players) and the “open card” (face-up card for everyone
to see). After the deal, the player showing the highest card must bring-in,
or in other words to place a “forced bet” which is usually two times ante or
bet higher (if the limits allow it). Note: Ties in card rank are broken by
suit in the following descending order - spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs.
After this initial bring-in or bet, action continues clockwise until betting
round is completed. After the first betting round each of the remaining
players receives another face-up card and the second betting round starts.
This is repeated two more times (face-up card dealing and betting round
after the dealing), so in the fourth and last betting round each of the
remaining players will have total of five cards (one face-down and four
face-up). If more then one player reaches this stage of play when fourth
betting round is finished – it is time for the showdown. If there was
betting on 5th street the player who made the last bet or raise must show
his hand first. Otherwise the player showing the highest hand on the board
shows his hand first. The best five-card hand wins the pot and if two or
more players have the same hand they split the pot.
